Creating Lifelong Readers:
How Families Can Help
The teachers at our school are committed to helping every child establish the habits of a reader and a lifelong love of books. Children leave school with one or more books to be read at home and returned to school the next day. The goal is at least half an hour of home reading for every child every afternoon or evening. Depending on his or her ability, your child may need to work with an adult or sibling, listen to the book read aloud, or read independently.
We believe that there is no more important homework than reading therefore the majority of your child’s homework each night for this class will be personal reading.
